Caroling: Katie Waissel performed at Selfridges in Manchester yesterday

This year's winner Matt Cardle debuted his new music video yesterday and is currently promoting his new single on national TV and radio.

But despite missing out on the crown, controversial finalist Katie Waissel is determined to make the most of her X Factor fame, and is keeping herself busy with gigs and public appearances.

The 24-year-old led a Christmas carol sing-a-long session in store at the Manchester Selfridges last night.

The former receptionist needed a little prompting with the age-old songs though, holding a lyrics card in front of her as she performed Christmas classics including White Christmas and Jingle Bells.

Katie wore a camel coat and fedora hat over high-waisted tan trousers and a white vest.

She wrote on her Twitter page earlier in the day: 'Regardless of tonsils bigger than Jupiter I am STILL coming to Manchester I wouldn't miss it for the world!! Can't wait to see you.'

The gig appeared to go off without a hitch, and with no critical judges or scathing X Factor audiences, the singer left Manchester on a high.

She tweeted afterward: 'Everybody who came tonight to Selfridges Manchester you are incredible! Had such a giggle singing Xmas songs I feel so festive now.'
