Caring: Jennifer Aniston lends her celebrity status to a good cause with a new ad for the St. Jude Children's Hospital

She's one of the most highly-sought actresses in Hollywood and is guaranteed to attract attention wherever she goes.

But Jennifer Aniston used her celebrity status for a good cause recently as she filmed a new TV ad for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The Friends star appears alongside a little girl battling cancer in the 30 second commercial, who was given just weeks to live before receiving pioneering treatment at St. Judes.

Aniston says: 'Last year, sick with cancer, Jordyn was given just weeks to live.'

And Jordyn says: 'Now I'm in the St Jude commercial.'

As she kisses the girl on the face, Aniston tells her: 'In it? You're the star of it.'

Wearing a grey cardigan over a white T-shirt, the actress looked soft and maternal as she cuddled the little girl.

Maternal: Jennifer has been a patron of the children's hospital for years

The 41-year-old has long been associated with the charity, appearing in a number of adverts for the medical centre over the years.

The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is located in Memphis, Tennessee and is one of the world's leading children's hospitals.

Aniston was seen out in New York yesterday, trying to keep warm against the chilly weather.

The actress is apparently looking to buy an apartment in the city so she can spend more time there, and spent the weekend househunting.

She then headed to the dress rehearsal for Saturday Night Live to watch Paul Rudd, who she has been filming new film Wanderlust with.

Aniston was recently in the news after best friend Chelsea Handler insulted Angelina Jolie during a stand up routine - and she was not happy about it.

'Jen has gone out of her way to keep her private feelings about that woman who stole her husband private and has always asked her friends to do the same,' a source told PopEater.

'She is furious with Chelsea for bringing the whole situation back to life again and landing her on the cover of a weekly magazine tomorrow with a Brad headline.

'Jen doesn’t just let these sort of people in her life.

'She hates drama or unnecessary attention and certainly doesn’t want to ever see her face on a tabloid again with a headline about Angie or Brad.

'Jen wants badly to believe Chelsea didn’t revive her Angelina-skewering jokes now that the two are good friends.

'Even so, she’s happy Chelsea made it clear her rant had nothing to do with her and wishes she’d just keep her big mouth shut in the future.'
